As an example, the firm presently represents the family of an 8 month old infant who was killed on July 30, 2013 as she was being pushed in her stroller by her mother when a commuter bus departed the public roadway and hit a lamppost. The lamppost fell directly onto the stroller killing the infant and narrowly missing her mother. The firm has filed suit against the driver of the bus as well as the bus owner and operator for their negligence, recklessness, and carelessness in causing this horrific crash.

In addition to its representation of victims involved in catastrophic accidents, Baumeister & Samuels has been involved in other types of complex litigation. For example, we successfully represented dozens of union members in a suit against their union for a breach of the duty of fair representation to a class of its members. This matter, which was tried for over six weeks in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York, was the first time that this nationally recognized union was found to have breached its duty of fair representation to a certain class of its members.
